Escuché este tema hace ya algunos años en Radio 3 y me encantó. Fue una mañana antes de ir a dar clases. Posteriormente, cuando llegué a casa, busqué en internet lo que más o menos me parecía el título y descubrí este magnífico grupo que, a partir de entonces, he seguido con asiduidad. Esperemos que vengan a España y pueda ver algún concierto suyo. En 2014 editaron su quinto disco de estudio: «Education, Education, Education & War», el cual posee un título de lo más sugerente.
En cualquier caso, aquí está el tema al que hago referencia en el título de la entrada:

The Prodigy: The day is my enemy
Al contrario de lo que me ha sucedido hace poco con el nuevo trabajo de Faith No More, este nuevo disco (que ya hace el sexto) de los Prodigy, «The Day is My Enemy», me suena bastante bien.
Un comienzo de disco sencillito, con mucho ritmo y con letras inspiradas en Ella Fitzgerald:
Continuamos con «Nasty», que es pasable a pesar de ser elegida como single por la banda. «Rebel Radio» se muestra muy poderosa, con muchísimo ritmo (que es la tónica general del álbum).
«Ibiza feat. Sleaford Mods» es eléctrica a tope, buscando la esencia de la música tecno. ¡Vaya Drum and Bass! «Destroy» parece una base para mezclar y pinchar, pero sigue manteniendo el ritmo frenético de todo el disco. Así, el álbum va adquiriendo un tono transcendental muy al estilo de trabajos anteriores de Prodigy que, magistralmente, combinan caña con melodías casi tántricas.
Por ejemplo, «Medicine» se introduce con instrumentos de viento muy hindúes, orientales. «Invisible sun» es una preciosa canción. Por último (a no ser que se posea la edición especial con «Rise of the eagles»), el disco se cierra con Wall of Death que, personalmente, me recuerda a «Claustrophobic Stings», aunque quizá con menos pretensiones. En definitiva, un disco muy cañero, sólido y compacto.

Por cierto, ayer vi una película, «Whiplash», con la cual disfruté como un verdadero melómano. La historia trata sobre un estudiante de música que quiere convertirse en uno de los grandes de este instrumento. Apasionante oda al JAZZ.
Oh Yeah (The Subways)
Escuché este magnífico tema hace algún tiempo y, aunque realmente no son tan punks como aparentan y un poco más poppies de lo que parecen, transmite una energía positiva y fuerza para la vida, con un toque rebelde que me hace rememorar épocas adolescentes:
